Disciplined Kids: Ingredients of Happy Family

Want to know the secret of turning a home into sweet home? A well adjusted family with moral, values and discipline is certainly a happy family. Such a beautiful well knit family is everybody’s dream.

If you want to make your home a sweet home then you must make your kids understand the significance of discipline in their lives. In order to make them understand, you must be very clear and firm. Your consistency and firmness will be the major guiding factor for your kids.

Be Firm

Your instructions to your kids must be short, plan and easy to understand. There should not be any may be or may not be. Usually, it is a human tendency to have a flickering mind.

For instance, you have asked your kid that “We will arrange your wardrobe within five minutes.” In the meantime, your favourite TV program started and you got distracted.

This would set a wrong impression over your kids. They will observe that you do not value your instructions. And soon they will stop following your instructions.

Observe Your Behaviour

Before making the kids understands the significance of discipline, it is the responsibility of parents to observe their behaviour. They must be firm with themselves. If they have said that work will be done within five minutes then it means ‘five minutes’.

Being firm and determined on your statements does not mean that you are not loving or calm. It means that you value your words a lot. If you have said yes for something then stick to it. On the other hand, if you have said no then it means a big No. Do not transform your big ‘No’ to OK, alright, next time or soon!

Your flickering ‘No’ clearly shows that you are getting manipulated by your kid. In order to act clear and firm, you must be consistent and clear from inside.

Be a Role Model

Parents have always been their kid’s role models. To make your kid disciplined, you must follow the set rules religiously

• For instance, if you want to make your kid go to bed on time then turn off TV or computer half an hour before and be on bed on time.
   

• If you have asked your kid to tidy up his/her books now then it means now. Do not get yourself engaged in some other activity, such as reading magazine or chatting with a friend.

While giving directions to your kid, you must be very firm, calm and clear voice. You must have a complete control on yourself as well as the situation. This will make your kid understand the importance of time. He/she will also pay importance to your words.

Your efforts will be soon visible in the behaviour of your kids. Although, following the guidelines could be quite tiring and boring, but its end result will be wonderful.

So, be focused on clear and firm guidelines and get ready for a happy
and prosperous family!
